Serva Fidem (Latin for “keep the faith”), the small group mentorship program that began at Dowling Catholic, is now partnering with parishes in the Diocese of Des Moines! We are now accepting applications for a Coordinator to lead the effort for Ss. John and Paul (Altoona), St. Joseph (Des Moines), and St. Luke the Evangelist (Ankeny) parishes.
Serva Fidem pairs small groups of students with adult mentors in the community for weekly gatherings. Students learn to better understand their Catholic faith and develop deep, personal relationships with Jesus Christ.Responsibilities include recruiting, training and coaching mentors; building relationships with students and coordinating the formation of small student groups; preparing senior mentors and students for transition to college; planning events; communication with mentors, donors, students, parents and pastors; manage tracking systems, including student participation, mentor participation, small group locations and times; maintain prayer teams; participate in meetings with pastors; build relationships with pastor, staff and community.
Applicants must be a Catholic in good standing and should put major emphasis into their own spiritual growth, including frequent reception of the sacraments, including frequent Mass attendance, commitment to a daily holy hour, and receiving spiritual direction. Bachelor's degree is required, along with 2+ years experience with a New Evangelization program.
