Fleece Days, the parish fleece blanket project sponsored by the Life After Fifty group, will take place on Monday, October 21 and Tuesday, October 22 starting at 9 am. Any adult in the parish is welcome to come for an hour, both days or anywhere in-between to help. If you have a rotary cutter, scissors, cutting matte, long ruler, or any other tools that you think would be helpful, please bring them along. If you bring a rotary cutter, we will put a new blade in when you leave so you can start fresh on your next project.
If you would like to donate fleece, 2 ½ yards of a print and 2 ½ yards of a coordinating solid are needed for each blanket. Again, this year we are offering you the opportunity to donate the cost of a blanket and we will watch for sales and purchase the fleece for you. The average cost per blanket is $30, and any donations given will go towards buying fleece. Please call Larry and Donita Jensen, 515-957-8613, if this is something that you are interested in.
We will have a table in the gathering space the weekend of September 28/29 for any questions, for fleece donations or donations to help with expenses. You can also sign up to bring a crock pot of soup or cookies or bars to feed our workers in October.
Since 2009 (apart from 2011, 2020 and 2021) we have completed 768 blankets that were donated to various organizations with survivors of human trafficking being the number one recipient. Families from our Presence Under the Tree collaboration with Altoona Grade School will also receive blankets this year.
