No construction experience is required. You simply need to be willing to get your hands dirty and sweat in the Salvadoran sun while helping build simple, dignified homes under the direction of Salvadoran masons working for Habitat for Humanity El Salvador.
Trip Fee: We estimate that the trip will cost around $900-$1000 per person. This includes accommodations, meals, in-country transportation and travel medical insurance. An initial, non-refundable deposit of $100 is required within 30 days of joining the team to reserve your spot. The remaining balance is due, in full, by August 31, 2015. Air travel to and from El Salvador, the fee to enter the country, as well as souvenirs, snacks, soda and other personal expenses are not included in this total.
Airfare and Travel Expenses: Airfare from Des Moines typically runs between $650 and $900. Please consult with Leon Stidfole before purchasing your ticket. A valid passport and $10 cash are required to enter the country.
Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity is covering a mandatory $400 per person tithe/donation to Habitat El Salvador for this trip; thus team members are paying at least $400 less than they would for a similar Habitat Global Village experience. Contact Brendalyn Shird, if you’d like to cover this cost or make an additional donation so GDM Habitat we can fund more housing solutions in El Salvador!
