For Confirmation, Ss. John and Paul offers family-centered sacramental preparation. In addition to participating in Parish Intergenerational Faith Formation, parents and sponors are invited to participate in a variety of ways. A few large group meetings will guide preparation, one in September for Year 1 candidates, and one in the spring for Year 2 candidates.
Confirmation candidates and their parents will be required to attend the intergenerational faith formation gatherings for two years, their freshman and sophomore years. These gatherings, along with an entrance and exit interview, large group service opportunities, a few Confirmation meetings, a renewal day and a retreat, will be completed before the celebration of Confirmation in the spring of their sophomore year.
The service opportunities will be varied. Two sites that we use are Central Iowa Shelter and Services and Meals from the Heartland. Other service oportunities will be available throughout the year
and will be made known as they occur.
As part of the preparation process for the sacrament of Confirmation, Year 2 candidates will participate in an interview with Fr. Mark. This interview will cover your preparation, growth in faith, and progress as disciples.
Each candidate is to reserve a time slot by entering your name in the Signup Genius schedule:
Available dates run from May 9 through May 22. Each interview takes place in a 30-minute time period.
To prepare for the interview:
These interviews will be held in the conference room at the parish offices. The candidate should enter through the main church doors and wait in the gathering space for Fr. Mark. Those who bring the candidate are asked to remain in the gathering space, outdoors or in their vehicle until the interview is finished.
Once you have prayerfully considered who your Confirmation Sponsor will be, and they have agreed to sponsor you, please have them fill out this form:
